Spring pad upper — a genuine BMW part, number 33 53 1 128 610. The number stamped on the part is 33531128610; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1128610. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Rear Axle parts. It supersedes the older number 1127172, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 9 diagrams, among them Single Components for Rear Spring Strut (33_0254) and Single Components for Rear Spring Strut (33_0324). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 164 g (0.4 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Chassis (2221907).
