Sprocket — a genuine BMW part, number 11 21 1 247 338. The number stamped on the part is 11211247338; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1247338. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Crankshaft with bearing. It supersedes the older number 1721097, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and compact (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines.
BMW draws it on 9 diagrams, among them Belt Drive-Vibration Damper (11_0334) and Timing and valve train-timing chain (11_1191). It weighs about 243 g (0.5 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Parts Set (2700581).
