The number stamped on the part is 32411278039; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1278039. You will find it on our Steering shelf, under Other Steering parts. It supersedes the older number 1278038, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1312196.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Hydro Steering-Vane Pump/Bearing Support (32_0894) and Hydro Steering-Vane Pump/Bearing Support (32_0895). It weighs about 438 g (1.0 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
