Surrounding seal — a genuine BMW part, number 54 10 7 245 551. The number stamped on the part is 54107245551; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7245551. You will find it on our Exterior Body shelf, under Folding top. It supersedes the older numbers 7117551 and 7181948, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 9 diagrams, among them Slid.Lift. Roof-Cover/Ceiling Frame (54_0185) and Slid.Lift. Roof-Cover/Ceiling Frame (54_0195). It weighs about 130 g (0.3 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Mounting Instruction (0035389).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
