The number stamped on the part is 33131213892; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1213892. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Rear Axle parts. It supersedes the older number 1205124, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1205117.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti and 320i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 15 diagrams, among them Limit.Slip Diff.Unit-Drive Flange/Susp (33_0022) and Limit.Slip Diff.Unit-Drive Flange/Susp (33_0023). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 330 g (0.7 lb).
