Genuine BMW part 11 53 1 253 249: Thermostat. The number stamped on the part is 11531253249; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1253249. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Thermostat and coolant lines. It supersedes the older numbers 1468056 and 9055587, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1253248.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 21 diagrams, among them Cooling System-Thermostat/Water Hoses (11_0640) and Cooling System-Thermostat/Water Hoses (11_0643). It weighs about 230 g (0.5 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
