This is a genuine BMW throttle housing Assy Eml, part number 12 72 1 731 966. The number stamped on the part is 12721731966; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1731966. It supersedes the older number 1725815, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1733024 and 1736856.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 1.5 kg (3.4 lb).
