The number stamped on the part is 11141734293; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1734293. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Housing cover. It supersedes the older number 1727698, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan (318i, 1992–1998), with the M40 engine — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Wheel Casing (11_1116) and Wheel Casing (11_4355). It weighs about 350 g (0.8 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
