This is a genuine BMW trailer towing module, part number 71 60 6 856 747. The number stamped on the part is 71606856747; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 6856747. You will find it on our Tools shelf, under Other Equipment Parts parts. It supersedes the older number 6855562, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Control unit, trailer module (61_2349) and Control unit, trailer module (61_2704). It weighs about 70 g (0.2 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Retrofit kit, electr. additional parts (2183704) and Retrofit kit, electr. additional parts (2183705) and 12 more.

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
