Genuine BMW part 61 31 7 127 556: Universal key. The number stamped on the part is 61317127556; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7127556. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Switch. It supersedes the older number 7127555, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Key with accumulator battery (41_1415) and Key with accumulator battery (41_1661). It weighs about 23 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Set of Keys with EWS Control Unit (0032396) and Set of Keys with EWS Control Unit (0032397).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
