This is a genuine BMW asbestos-free gasket set, part number 23 12 9 065 642. The number stamped on the part is 23129065642; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9065642. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Bearing in housing, sealing rings. It supersedes the older number 1205258, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 10 diagrams, among them Manual gearbox (23_0306) and Manual gearbox (23_0307). It weighs about 90 g (0.2 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
