This is a genuine BMW basic control unit DME (exchange unit), part number 12 14 1 247 814. The number stamped on the part is 12141247814; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1247814. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1739534, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 0028570.

It fits the E36 sedan (316i, 1990–1991), with the M40 engine.
