Hex nut with ribs — a genuine BMW part, number 52 10 8 265 533. The number stamped on the part is 52108265533; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8265533. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Tail trim. It supersedes the older number 9900036, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 9156956.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 29 diagrams, among them Front Seat Rail Electrical/Single Parts (52_0565) and Front Seat Rail Electrical/Single Parts (52_0566). It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).
