The number stamped on the part is 23311224791; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1224791. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Inner gearshift parts. It supersedes the older number 1224567, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M50, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits every E46 body style (325i, 328i and 330i, 1999–2006), with the M52 or M54 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 12 diagrams, among them S5D...Z inner gear shifting parts (23_0229) and Zf S5-16 Inner Gear Shifting Parts (23_0557). It weighs about 3 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
