01 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→Piston — a genuine BMW part, number 11 25 1 261 978. The number stamped on the part is 11251261978; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1261978. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Piston with rings and pin. It supersedes the older numbers 1256336, 1256337 and 1256338, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Piston (11_2441) and Piston (11_2471).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
