This is a genuine BMW plastic bolt, part number 12 90 7 569 973. The number stamped on the part is 12907569973; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7569973. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older numbers 0420233 and 1435163, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.

It fits every E46 body style (320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and 330i, 1999–2006), with the M52, M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 11 diagrams, among them Oil Pan/Oil Level Indicator (11_4985) and Oil Pan/Oil Level Indicator (11_5089). BMW's catalog calls for four of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).
