Genuine BMW part 33 50 2 290 318: Repair kit, aux. damper, protective tube. The number stamped on the part is 33502290318; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2290318. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Self-levelling suspension. It supersedes the older number 1136395, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe and convertible (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9 and 318i, 1998–2001), with the M43 or N42 engines.

BMW draws it on 5 diagrams, among them Single Components for Rear Spring Strut (33_0386) and Rear Spring Strut Mounting Parts (33_0841). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 118 g (0.3 lb).
