Genuine BMW part 23 22 1 228 283: Repair kit shift gear 5. and revers.gear. The number stamped on the part is 23221228283; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1228283. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gear wheels. It supersedes the older numbers 1228028, 1228045 and 1228089, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Getrag 240 Gear Wheel Set, Single Parts (23_0242) and Getrag 240 Gear Wheel Set, Single Parts (23_0243). It weighs about 1.2 kg (2.6 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
