Reverse shift gear — a genuine BMW part, number 23 22 1 228 045. The number stamped on the part is 23221228045; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1228045. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gear wheels. It supersedes the older number 1224251, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1228283.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 694 g (1.5 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
