08 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW reversing light switch, part number 23 14 7 524 811. The number stamped on the part is 23147524811; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7524811. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Electrical mounting parts. It supersedes the older numbers 0396403, 0409754 and 7506637, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 69 diagrams, among them S5D...Z housing + mounting parts (23_0125) and S6s420g Housing+attaching Parts (23_0219). It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
