This is a genuine BMW shift gear for 1st. gear, part number 23 22 1 222 254. The number stamped on the part is 23221222254; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1222254. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gear wheels.

It fits every E36 body style (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits every E46 body style (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9, 316ti, 318i and 318ti, 1997–2004), with the M43, N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.
