Torque converter — a genuine BMW part, number 24 40 1 423 243. The number stamped on the part is 24401423243; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1423243. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1421863, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M42 or M43 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Automatic gearbox A4S270/310R (24_1254) and Automatic gearbox A4S270/310R (24_1561). It weighs about 12 kg (26 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
