Genuine BMW part 72 11 1 977 401: Upper belt rear. The number stamped on the part is 72111977401; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1977401. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Parts and accessories, body parts. It supersedes the older numbers 2258513 and 2258514, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1977402.

It fits the E36 sedan (318i, 320i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M50, M52 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on the Safety belt rear (72_0202) diagram. BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 714 g (1.6 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
