Genuine BMW part 12 31 1 713 491: Voltage regulator. The number stamped on the part is 12311713491; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1713491. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older number 1432964, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan (318i, 1992–1998), with the M43 engine. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (320i, 323i and 328i, 1999–2005), with the M52 engine — and the European-market versions.
