This is a genuine BMW voltage regulator, part number 12 31 1 747 920. The number stamped on the part is 12311747920; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1747920. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older number 1730604, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M50, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions.
