Basic control unit DME (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 12 14 1 429 999. The number stamped on the part is 12141429999; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1429999. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1429861, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (320i, 323i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M52 engine — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Basic control unit DME (12_0859) and Basic control unit DME (12_0885). It weighs about 600 g (1.3 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
