Basic control unit DME (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 12 14 7 522 223. The number stamped on the part is 12147522223; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7522223. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 7522222, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7522800.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Basic control unit DME (12_0885) and Basic control unit DME (12_1049). It weighs about 38 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
