Basic control unit DME (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 12 14 7 533 653. The number stamped on the part is 12147533653; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7533653. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older numbers 7533651, 7537852, 7537856, 7556137 and 3 others, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on the Basic control unit DME / MS45.0 (12_1240) diagram. It weighs about 320 g (0.7 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
