This is a genuine BMW basic control unit DME (exchange unit), part number 12 14 7 541 344. The number stamped on the part is 12147541344; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7541344. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 7541336, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7543158.

It fits the E46 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (325i and 330i, 2001–2006), with the M54 or M56 engines.

BMW draws it on the Basic control unit DME (12_1213) diagram. It weighs about 328 g (0.7 lb).
