Genuine BMW part 12 14 7 837 806: Basic control unit DME (exchange unit). The number stamped on the part is 12147837806; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7837806. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older numbers 7836455 and 7842356, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7837805.

It fits the E46 coupe and convertible (M3, 2001–2006), with the S54 engine.
