This is a genuine BMW basic control unit EGS (exchange unit), part number 24 60 1 423 044. The number stamped on the part is 24601423044; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1423044. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit EGS”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1422997, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Basic Control Unit EGS (24_0797) and Basic Control Unit EGS (24_1297). It weighs about 320 g (0.7 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
