Basic control unit EGS (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 24 60 1 423 786. The number stamped on the part is 24601423786; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1423786. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit EGS”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1423309, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1423953.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

It weighs about 310 g (0.7 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
