Basic control unit EGS (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 24 60 7 570 253. The number stamped on the part is 24607570253; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7570253. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit EGS”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 7524695, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on the Electronic gearbox control (24_1058) diagram. It weighs about 400 g (0.9 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
