Housing cover — a genuine BMW part, number 23 11 1 228 228. The number stamped on the part is 23111228228; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1228228. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Housing with cover. It supersedes the older number 1224152, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 14 diagrams, among them Getrag 260/5/50 Housing+attaching Parts (23_0575) and Getrag 260/5/50 Housing+attaching Parts (23_0576). It weighs about 346 g (0.8 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
