The number stamped on the part is 12317509097; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7509097. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older number 1435427, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7511603.
It fits the E46 sedan, coupe and touring (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9 and 318i, 1997–2001), with the M43 engine.
BMW draws it on the ALTERNATOR PARTS 70A Bosch (12_0607) diagram. BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”. It weighs about 5.6 kg (12 lb).
