This is a genuine BMW plug housing, part number 12 52 1 724 478. The number stamped on the part is 12521724478; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1724478. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older numbers 0492999 and 1724477, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M50, M52 or S50 and other engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (320i and 323i, 1999–2005), with the M52 engine.
BMW draws it on 12 diagrams, among them Ignition coil (12_0091) and Igtn. coil/sparkplug connector/sparkplug (12_0409). It weighs about 9 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Plug housing (0492999).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
